In the centennial event of Philippine independence, the Filipino nation celebrates a hundred years of being the First Republic in Asia. The nation takes pride in its rich heritage replete with nationalism and a dearth of heroes, both historical and contemporary. In 1996, a Filipino made it to the Ripley's Believe It or Not as the man who can beat the computer in telling the day of any date in the past or future millennia.
He has thought of and perfected a mathematical formula where, he can determine and give accurate answers with ease and astounding speed to those who would like to know the day they were born, or what day a date shall fall centuries from now. He was awarded with Ripley’s Cartoon hence, written in a caption which states “Ireneo Bughao of Manila, Philippines is able to calculate the specific day of the week of any day in the past or future faster than a computer!”
